the 7th child of RTD Major and Mrs N.T Angaye. Being from a musical
family where she and her eight siblings were already staging mini
concerts for family and friends at a very young age, it is not very
surprising that she has always been sure of the fact that she would
influence the lives of millions with her golden voice.
Most of
Preye’s pre-teen memories include rehearsals with the Foursquare Gospel
Church Children’s Choir, as well as Bible club, where she used to sing a
lot of Kiddies Praise songs. In secondary school, she formed a singing
group, TLC, with a group of friends and this became her ticket to “fame”
as she was then loved and favoured by her seniors who made life much
easier for her at the time, even though it was a military school.
Years
later, after moving to Port Harcourt with her parents, she joined a
gospel singing group, HM3, where she was the lead singer and became
active in the city’s gospel music circuit. Having done back up singing
for most of the big gospel artistes that came out of Port Harcourt in
the late nineties, she was largely inspired by the musical genius of
gospel legends like Yolanda Adams and Cece Winans, along with a few
other prominent artistes of her time.
A landmark event in her life
is her decision to join the New Wine Choir of The Carpenter’s Church, in
1996, where she has served faithfully to date and has now become the
leader of the approximately one hundred strong choir.
Preye is a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt and is married to an exceptional man, Ogbemi Omayuku. Together, they are raising their three wonderful kids, Sisan, Olaye, and Tsegbemi in the fear of the Lord.
